Cave of the Mounds - Contemplation

Cave of the Mounds - Contemplation

Stroll through the cave in silence at your own pace. During this Winter Wellness event we ask all of our staff and guests to remain silent when in the cave in order to provide this truly unique and rare experience.

Some parts of the cave will be accented with candlelight while some areas may offer a written quote or short poem to inspire contemplation and relaxation.

“Listen to silence. It has so much to say.”

Before or after your cave experience be sure to browse the large selection of natural treasures, books and more in the Quarry’s Edge Gift Shop.
Scott Anderson - Meditation

Scott Anderson - Meditation

Scott will be facilitating a 20-30 minute guided meditation inside the cave as part of this Winter Wellness experience at Cave of the Mounds.

Scott began studying meditation in 1982. Meditation is a significant part of what he practices and teaches. In 2010 Scott had the good fortune to meet the meditation master Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, and since then has been a dedicated student. He is one of the founding members of Tergar Madison, and a facilitator who guides meditation group sessions, offers meditation interviews, and leads non-residential retreats. Scott also facilitate Joy of Living programs, both in person and online.

“I have found that the deliberate practice of sitting meditation among the most important activities in my daily routine. The mind is capable of conjuring up great narratives, often rehashing past events and/or fretting about things that haven’t happened. Meditation invites the practitioner to be aware of the mind’s comings and goings, which ultimately demonstrates the insubstantiality of these fluctuations. Meditation informs everything I teach and do.”
