Cave of the Mounds is proud to serve Girl Scout groups from all around the Midwest. Girl Scout programs are available all year ’round. We provide a memorable experience designed to meet the needs of each group while supporting the goals and objectives of Girl Scouts and group leaders. Girl Scout Event Days & Overnights

These program events are ideal for Girl Scout groups that cannot meet the 20 person minimum for group rates.

Spend the night at Cave of the Mounds! Includes outdoor space for camping. Girl Scout overnights include 4 hours of special night-time programming including: Themed Cave Exploration

Interactive Educational Program
Campfire with S’Mores, Games and Stories
Gemstone Mining and/or Fossil Dig Activity and Collection
Dinner
Continental Breakfast

Overnight check-in begins at 5:30 pm and check-out is 9:00 am the following day.

$45 per person
Dress for the outdoors – we will send a packing list prior to the overnight

No minimum number of participants required to sign up, however, we strongly recommend signing up as one Pack or Troop, instead of individually, to ensure scouts from the same Pack or Troop are grouped together the day of the event.

CavesROCK takes your group on a journey through sinkholes, caves and the interesting nature of Wisconsin’s limestone and surrounding karst landscape. Includes authentic fossil collection.

This program is approximately 3 hours long and includes:

Cave Tour
Interactive Lecture
Outdoor Tour
Mining for and Idenifying an Authentic Fossil Collection
Time for Lunch

$15 per person
Please bring a lunch and your blue card
Dress for the outdoors

Naturalist provides experiences in the outdoors where Girl Scouts develop an appreciation for the natural world, practice observation skills, and learn about ecosystems, habitats and wildlife.

This program is approximately 3 hours long and includes:

Cave Tour
Interactive Lecture
Outdoor Tour
Fossil Dig Activity including a Rock or Fossil Collection
Time for Lunch

$15 per person
Please bring a lunch and your blue card
Dress for the outdoors

RocksROCK provides each Girl Scout with her very own collection of rocks, minerals and gems to investigate as they explore the most basic materials that form the earth.

This program is approximately 3 hours long and includes:

Cave Tour
Interactive Lecture
Outdoor Tour
Mining for and Idenifying an Authentic Rock and Mineral Collection
Time for Lunch

$15 per person

Orienteering provides an experience whereby Girl Scouts learn the basics of outdoor survival, how to read a topographic map and how to use a compass to find their way. Orienteering challenge course time included.

This program is approximately 3 hours long and includes:

Time for Lunch

All programs include activities led by a Cave of the Mounds educator, a guided cave tour and a guided outdoor tour. Girl Scout programs are available to groups of 20 or more with two-week advance reservation. Programs can be adapted for any age level. Programs are given rain or shine.

Diggings to Discovery explores the cultural history of the Blue Mounds area and the Cave of the Mounds site from early settlers through the lead mining boom to the discovery of our cave.

This program is approximately 3 hours long and includes:

Over a million years ago, deep beneath the ground, our cave began to form. Water gradually dissolved the rock to create an amazing underground world. Today, you can still see that water dripping… listen to the timeless sound, and imagine yourself back in an ancient world.

Our Small Group Package is available to Girl Scout groups of 10 or more with two-week advance reservation. Your small group can still enjoy a field trip and save! The Small Group Package includes the 1-hour educational cave tour and the mining activity of your choice. Choose the Quarry’s Edge Gemstone Mine or the Fossil Dig. Everyone goes home with a collection of rocks or fossils!

Spend the night at Cave of the Mounds! Includes outdoor space for camping from April 1 to October 31 and indoor space for sleeping from November 1 to March 31. Girl Scout overnights include 4 hours of special night-time programming including:

  • Themed Cave Exploration
  • Night Hike
  • Interactive Educational Program
  • Campfire with S’Mores, Games and Stories
  • Gemstone Mining and/or Fossil Dig Activity and Collection
  • Pizza or Hot Dog Dinner can be added for an additional fee.
  • Continental Breakfast can be added for an addtional fee.

Overnight check-in begins at 5:30 pm and check-out is 9:00 am the following day.
